Although the Cleveland Museum of Art has impressive galleries, the outside
façade is its own work of art. The 1916 neoclassical building overlooks the
Fine Arts Garden and the Lagoon. The Museum is a fine example of Cleveland
architecture.

Art of sub-Saharan Africa gallery, organized geographically with a division
in four broad cultural regions: Western Sudan, Guinea Coast, Nigeria and the
Congo Basin, showcases the Museum’s finest examples of art from Africa,
south of the Sahara. Objects in wood, terracotta, brass, ivory, cloth and
other media on view. The majority of works are wooden masks and figures made
in West and Central Africa in the late 19th to early 20th centuries.

With the lance "at rest" a family finds that it is safe to venture up
to the monumental Field Armor for the Man and Horse with The Arms of the
Vols-Colonna. A young boy points to the spectacular armor that adorns
both man and horse. The detailed etching of the 16th century Italian armor
is a popular attraction for visitors.

enjoy a free guided tour of The Cleveland Museum of Art’s Armor Court. One
of the Museum's oldest galleries, the Armor Court has been a thrill for
visitors since 1916, when the Museum first opened.
Impressive armor, weaponry, and vibrant tapestries are examples of the

power.

Inside the Interior Garden Courtyard, children take advantage of CMA
art classes. After a visit and discussion of the galleries, children are
making their own masterpieces. There is no doubt that these young
Clevelanders will one day have their own exhibits at the CMA!
